Mohammad Sharif Ranjbar said: Fishing activities are divided into three parts: fishing and reservoir management, aquaculture and processing, which processing is related to field of food industry biotechnology, aquaculture is related to the biotechnology of reproduction and breeding of aquatic and in fact, these two sectors are very mixed with the subject of marine biotechnology.

He stated: Another issue that exists in the discussion of marine biotechnology is pharmaceutical biotechnology, the raw material of which is provided through fishing industries, which means that the raw material must be provided through fishing or aquaculture.

Ranjbar stated: 26% of the province's fishing takes place in Qeshm Island and Meto and sardine fishing in this island provides about 67% of the total fishing in southe of Iran.

Qeshm Persian Gulf Biotechnology Park president pointed out that one of the goals of country's 5-year development plan is development of aquaculture in Qeshm Island and stated the annual production of 84,000 tons of fish, 1,000 tons of shrimp and 200 tons of other aquatic animals is expected in Qeshm.

He stated: fish farming industry in country has not made much progress, but fortunately, shrimp farming industry has been successful, and in fact, it can be said that by using dense and ultra-dense techniques, amount of shrimp harvest can also be increased, he continued: We must try to develop creative products of Qeshm fisheries and produce high quality fish and supply it to the market.
